Minecraft Tutorial. How to build an effective Iron farm for Minecraft 1.2.3
Before you watch the video, you should check out the first presentation video of the iron golem farm:www.youtube.com Here I explain the different steps how to make an iron farm producing roughly 7,5 stacks of iron per hour in survival.
Video Rating: 4 / 5

In each holding cells (One of the 4 per Room) How many would I put in there? Just 1? Or more?
is it ok to build this in a ocean biome?
jl, how many villagers do you need per cell? 16?
i don’t understand….
@HydrohenryRFW the loaded chunks do not depend on the view distance
@reddiXT we actually had to redesign the cells for multiplayer. You will see how did them when we show our farm. they are now 4×4 with water streams flowing towards the center, which keep the villagers from lagging through
@hobochris42 yeah there are issues with the bredding algorithm. this can happen if the villages connect because they are too close or theres a door and a villager in between them
@mrhammertime85 that happens when you build them too close so that the villages do connect and the center is in between the cells. the only way to stop them is to tear down all the doors of one of the cells. but then only one cell will work
texture pack = sphax pure BD?
HEY JL THIS IS A MUST READ!
Is there a way to make them stop breeding, they have SO many villagers, when I look at my first tower it has 900 of them. HELP
JL??? I have an urgent question!
Is there any limit to the breedign they can do? theres about 700 entities in my first tower and im lagging out so hard on my server! help!!!!!!!!!
@stevetwashere
Since 1.2, the seed in multiplayer will always be shown as 0.
stumbled on this thinking it was a joke, came from your orig video for the iron farm. Very neat idea, and quite practical. Thank you very much for sharing this on youtube. Subscribing for more neat stuff!
You say if its a loaded chunk then they will spawn so if your on far they will spawn as longas you see them.Will there be a problem with tiny,short,normal or will it be the same because i dont want decreased spawning rates due to that.
@JL2579 Thank you so much! you’re the best
How do you deal with the SMP mobs glitching through the walls? My iron golem farm looks like it has villagers raining down. And how do you deal with the villagers teleporting out of the 2x2x2 cell after unloading and loading the chunk? Do I have to check everytime if the cells are populated?
@hobochris42 no
I accidently made the spawning pads vertically 75 blocks apart, do I have to tear my whole thing down? please respond.
@119michael911 as long as they are in the loaded chunks, the machine will work, so if you can see it on far render distance, it’ working!
how close do you have to be to the villages for the iron golem to spawn?
how is your seed 0?
@JL2579 Could the hole be covered in leaves? Or would it need a clear line of sight to the sun?
@JL2579 Cheers JL, it’s interesting to hear the technical details behind the farm. Overall, this is an amazing concept and farm; nice work
What is that texturepack??
@james227uk the algorithm tries to spawn a golem roughly every 6 min, and it tries it 10 times in a random spot in the 16x16x6 area around the center, and the golem can only spawn if there’s a solid block beneath him and 2x2x4 nonsolid blocks above, therefore to maximise it’s spawining chance i invented the double floors, they give around 20% more iron in the long term than a single floor.
