That is not a glitch… In the update they made it so if you walk on crops they don’t get Destroyed It’s only if you jump on them
I was didn’t know that you read all the comments. I’ve been wanting to tell you this. There’s a glitch, if you bury a fence under your crops, you, or mobs, will not be able to trample your tilled land. Hope this helps you out! It sure helped me!

I dont think the trap works anymore, the zombies wont drawn anymore.
In your next new season, once you find a dungeon, can you make a current tutorial on how to spawn kill mobs?

@lmurraysoccer its not theres a survive and thrive series 2 that paul has been making for more recent minecraft this is beta 1.9 prerelease 2 and the new minecraft is 1.2.3 and you should check it out hes go some realy good tutorials.:) this is quite out dated so its recomended to watch series 2 hope i helped your case
