When playing minecraft, I’m sure we’ll all realize that “diamonds” are a huge chunk of the game. Its everyone’s first goal, first major achievement. Diamond gives you useful tools that last a long time. Diamonds is the perfect mineral, but we all know that in the real world, diamonds aren’t the only type of gem out there. The Gems+ mod by Boilingfort adds a variety of new gems: emerald, ruby, sapphire, amethyst and topaz.
These work a lot like diamonds. The ores for these will spawn naturally, some rarer then others. The gems can be crafted int; pickaxes, axes, swords, spades and hoes. Unfortunately, none of these can mine obsidian, so you’ll have to stick with diamonds for that. All of these gems have different speeds and durability’s. For a full list of the uses and speeds , go to the source here. From what I understand; best to worst is: ruby, saphire, topaz, emerald and amethyst. These gems can also be crafted into armour, so you can swagger around with your new purple/ green armour!
The Gems+ mod is a great addition to minecraft, adding more natural Gems that occur in the real world, into minecraft. I think mojang should really take a look at this mod and consider some things to put into vanilla minecraft. It just adds so much more to do when you’re mining. Truly excellent mod, well done Boilingfort.
